COVID-19: What To Do At Home During Quarantine
“In the days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths, and the number of affected countries climb even higher. WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction. We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General in a media briefing on March 11, 2020.
According to Wikipedia, a pandemic is a disease epidemic that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents, or worldwide. It is an epidemic occurring on a scale that crosses international boundaries, usually affecting a large number of people.
As days passed, COVID-19 number of confirmed cases and confirmed death are increasing in various countries including Philippines. On March 16, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the entire Luzon under “Enhanced Community Quarantine” and “Stringent Social Distancing Measures”.
This aims to contain the outbreak and to further combat the effect of the continuing and increasing spread of COVID-19. It took effect on March 17, 2020 and will end on April 14, 2020. As a result, restriction on the people’s movement, closure of establishments of non-essential shop and businesses and travel restrictions are being enforced.
Checkpoints for checking the motivation for travels, banning of public events and mass gatherings, closure of schools and universities are also observed.
