Laiya’s Family Friendly Resort, Doña Nena

Spread the love

Planning for a well deserved break this summer? Better to plan ahead because just like you, everyone is looking forward for a fun summer escapade. Three weeks prior our planned outing we already started to look for resorts in Laiya. Since it’s peak season most of the resorts were already fully booked even for day tours. We discovered a secluded family friendly resort, Doña Nena which is far from the crowded Laiya at Hugom Beach Strip.

Doña Nena Family resort is ideal for groups on a budget who would like to relax and unwind without breaking the bank. This resort is great for those who will bring kids but don’t want to worry much because the water is shallow. If your off for a good swim you need to walk about hundred meters to reach the deeper parts.  You’ll also be able to see the mini sand bar during low tide.

The place was clean and uncrowded despite being a Saturday and considering it’s peak season. The sand was fine and almost white, cream in color.  The place offers basic amenities, it has decent toilet, shower area, mini convenient store selling basic essentials as well as food and snacks. If you opt to grill, the caretakers will be glad to assist you. They provide cooking grills for free. One of the good things about this resort is that they don’t charge corkage fees if you bring in food and drinks.

Our Awesome Experience

The resorts friendly personnels greeted us with a warm smile. After settling our payments at the reception area we were assisted to bring our stuff to our assigned tents. Since they do not allow vehicles inside the resort, they provided multi-cabs. Despite the scorching heat you can feel the summer breeze. The tent assigned to us has a nearby Talisay tree that gives vast shades. While the kids prepped up for swimming, the adults took care of the food and grilling.

Kids were very much excited for the swim, the water was calm and cool. We also adored the white powdery sands. I asked the kids to build sand castles to divert their attention since its too hot to swim. They even gave me foot scrub and the fun part was burying my legs on the sand. There were also ice drop vendors who passed by the resort, it’s good to see the kids savor the cheese and pinipig ice drops. Similarly it brought back my childhood memory to my favorite summer dessert. After a few more swim our sumptuous lunch was ready.

Delectable Feast

How nice it is to have lunch by the beach. We had hotdogs, which is a must if you have kids. Fresh yellow fin tuna and squid was grilled, we bought it on our way to Laiya from a small market near the pier. Yummy liempo seasoned with just salt, garlic and vinegar. Ending our meal with sweet and juicy watermelon.

Great Time Indeed

After lunch everyone went swimming and enjoyed the water. There was a mangrove forest with small fishes. A floating bamboo raft was also open if you are tired from swimming. You can just sit, relax and appreciate the scenic view. Taking photos and videos here and there to capture our beautiful escapade. For the adventurous ones, the resort also offer water activities. Late in the afternoon after few more swim we already decided to pack up and go home. Doña Nena has ample shower and changing rooms. The resort cordially assisted us during check out.
