Road Trip: Calinisan Resort-Caleruega-Fantasy World
Working in a corporate world, we were anticipating our much needed break. We waited for a not so long vacation last Holy week and took a road trip – Calinisan Resort-Caleruega-Fantasy World.
Together with my friends and their family, we spent our Maundy Thursday and headed to our first stop, Calinisan Resort Hotel. It is a lakeside resort with Taal Volcano view and colorful pool at night that is perfect for relaxation located at Laurel, Batangas. Read this article for the review of the resort.
We continued our road trip after enjoying day and night swimming, dining and late night talks with few cans of beer. (If you’re the one driving, I suggest you get a lot of rest). It is time to put my first car to good use, celebrate this milestone, right? Did you just get your first car like me? You might want to read these tips for first-time car buyers.
Since it is Good Friday, we opted to go to a church for a visit. After check-out from the resort, we directly went to Caleruega Church. We took the shortest route for about 25 kilometers going there with the help of Waze. It took close to 40 minutes travel as there’s no traffic via Agoncillo-Laurel Rd. and Laurel – Canyon Woods Rd. which surprised us considering it’s Good Friday.
Close to Nature, Closer to God
Caleruega Church or Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega is located at Brgy. Caylaway, Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas. It is surrounded with lush greenery, trees, flowers and blooms. Visitors will surely enjoy the place due to its beautiful scenery and atmosphere. This place is perfect to pray and reflect. It was my first time to visit this popular church and I was not able to roam around and witness the beauty of different spots inside as there were lots of people and the weather was also hot. Instead, we went inside the chapel and prayed.
It is also a great place for many activities such as retreats, recollections, leadership training and seminars, prayers and renewal workshops, youth camps, weddings and other spiritual activities. This is also a good location for recreation, bonding, and picnics with family and friends. I’ll definitely come back to explore the place.
Fantasy World @ Lemery, Batangas
Next stop is Fantasy World, situated at Diokno Hi-way, Brgy. Mayasang, Lemery Batangas. The “abandoned” amusement/theme park and supposedly the “Disneyland of the Philippines” is recently becoming destination of tourists. Fantasy World is a medieval-themed park once owned by a Japanese businessman who ran out of funds due to financial issues, now owned by ECE Realty & Development.
Magical Universe of Fantasy
Despite the bricks and paints peeling off from the wall, you will feel like you’re in a fairy tale the moment you see the gigantic castles. With only P100 per head entrance fee you can enter the magical universe of fantasy and become a Prince or Princess, King or Queen for a day. As you enter the park, you will see the four (4) castle-like bricks in a quadrangle. You can even climb to their castle’s tower and can see the breathtaking view. In fact, Kirsten and Karmella were crying and asking where the Princesses are. Mommy Lorie yelled, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair! So that I may climb thy golden stair.” Fairy tale costumes which are perfect for selfies were also available with rental fee. The mini Ferris Wheel, Roller Coaster and Flying-fiesta, sad to say were no longer operational.
Apart from these, they also have an unfinished construction of condotels and clubhouse, Maze Garden and Hanging Bridge connected by two treehouse. There is also a chapel where you can pray and reflect. Mixed emotions, feels like you are in a fantasy kingdom and in an eerie abandoned place at the same time. After wandering around, you can enjoy their snack bar inside at very affordable price.
Though there’s nothing much in the park, it is nonetheless a sight to behold. It is picture perfect and can be considered as photo park. Great backdrop for photo-op for debuts and pre-nuptial photo shoots.
