What Else Can Kids Do During Quarantine?
Again, my kids are so happy for they already received new toys this week from Shopee. Together, we browsed for new toys to purchase during 11.11 sale and they selected the kinetic sand clay (purple and pink, of course their favorite colors) and the twister game. I totally support this, again, to keep them away from gadgets. What else can kids do during quarantine? Toys. Toys. Lots of toys!
The twister game arrived first. We looked for twister game rules online and saw the details in ultra board games.
Objective of the Game
To be able to outmaneuver your opponent in placing hands and feet on colored circles as directed by the spinner.
2 players: Take turns to call out the moves without using the spinner. Make it as tricky as you like!
More than 2 players: Choose a referee to spin the spinner and call out the moves.
How to Play the Game
Spin the spinner, Referee! Call out the color and which hand or foot to move (e.g. Left Hand Red!) All players must move their left hand to an empty red circle as quickly as possible.
Only one hand or foot per circle! The first player there occupies the circle. If you can’t agree who got there first, the referee decides. The referee’s decision is final.
Additional rules, first, if all six circles of one color are taken, spin again.
Second, if the referee calls a hand/foot and color combination you’re already doing, you must move your hand or foot to a different circle of the same color. (If all six are taken, spin again).
Lastly, if a knee or an elbow lands on the mat, or if you fall over, you’re out!
Once you’ve made your move, you can’t move again unless the referee gives you permission to move your hand or foot to let another player’s hand or foot through!
More than 4: Squeeze on extra players wherever you can or split into teams and play a Twister Tournament!
The last player left in the game wins.
What I like about this game is that we all play and we’re able to stretch and twist and turn. It’s really fun! Got this from Home Improvement Shop for only Php 213 including shipping fee.
Kinetic Sand Clay
Did you know that kinetic sand is particularly beneficial in supporting physical development such as fine motor skills? Social and emotional development can be supported by engaging with the kinetic sand as children may find it calming and relaxing. Kinetic sand provides a range of sensory experiences for children. Kinetic sand is mouldable, sculptable sand, suitable for creative and open ended play. It is suitable for building and shaping, providing a sensory experience to children.(source play.aim.gov.ie)
Got this for only Php 386 (including shipping fee) from kdbb.ph shop for two orders (one pink for my eldest, one purple for my youngest). It comes with the following: 1 kg set sand, 1 inflatable pool (60cm x 45cm x 9cm), 1 scooper/sticks, 6 plastic moulders, 1 container box.
It is recommended for children (5 to 12 years of age). The shop claims it’s 98% sand, 2% Polymers and 100% fun! It’s also gluten free but still need to be careful. According to The Kids Toys Center, although kinetic sand is non-toxic, eating large quantities of it can be dangerous which is exactly why small children should not be allowed to play with the sand unsupervised. The very properties that make the sand so much fun to mold and touch is the same reason why ingesting it could cause problems.
I think we can conclude that quarantine is so much fun with these kinetic sand clay and twister game! Just look at those smiles! Priceless!
